A Steal
Often I have driven or biked by a particular store in Niihama that always seems to grab my attention. However, I have never stopped there, usually because I have something else on my agenda that I want to do, or I am on the opposite side of the road and don't want the hassle of turning around and going back just to go inside. I knew that eventually the right situation would present itself to conveniently go inside for a visit to look around.
This past Sunday happened to be that good day to visit this place and take a look inside to do some browsing. The name of this place is called 'Hard Off'. It is probably the best place to find reduced prices on second-hand, recycled, or reusable merchandise. The place was very busy and packed with shoppers, which wasn't surprising, as the parking lot hardly had any available parking spaces. I was happy that I had chosen to bike there.
The inside of the store had its merchandise neatly arranged and organized. I was amazed at the variety and quality of the used products. The first floor had rows and rows of books, mostly manga/anime, along with electrical appliances that looked of excellent quality. In the back corner and along the wall were musical instruments, especially many electric guitars of which a fender stratocaster caught my eye. There were also a lot of children's toys and games available.
The second floor was where I was headed though. I love hunting for vintage clothing, and the second floor was where the clothes were located. I was ready to find that one unique shirt, or that one pair of funky, but cool pair of pants. As luck would have it, I came across a warm, gray, scholarly looking sweater made out of wool....perfect to wear for these colder days! It almost looked brand new and only cost $10 (1,100 yen). I'll have it cleaned and be wearing it soon enough. I also like the idea of reusing or recycling things. It was a win-win result, and a steal of a bargain.
