While biking around Niihama, it is easy to get caught on crowded two lane roads with very little room to maneuver on the side. Also, with the stoplights and stop signs, it is difficult to build up any speed while enjoying the sights.

Recently, while biking from the southern part of Niihama City back to my apartment in the center of the city, I came upon a fortuitous opportunity. I saw an exit from the tight two land road I was on that lead onto a bike path. I almost missed it! I quickly turned around and took what was definitely a bike path. For the next 3 kms, I could bike without stopping for a stoplight or being worried about traffic. The path took me from highway 11 up to Aeon Mall, from where it is just a short jaunt back to my apartment. The beautiful path hugged the bottom of a hill as I shared the path with other bikers and people out to exercise and walk their dogs.

In the future, I will take this path in the opposite direction. I think the bike path might be a circuit around the city which will be interesting to explore and enjoy.
