Halloween Party!

In America, children go trick-or-treating on Halloween night, and adults hand out candy. Afterwards, when the children have gone home, many young adults go to Halloween parties. These parties aren’t too big in Japan right now, but my friends and I were lucky enough to find one in Takamatsu. We went and had a great time! There was music, dancing, and lots of great costumes. My favorite was a guy dressed as Monkey D. Luffy from One Piece.
But the best part of the night was the ninjas! Two ninjas showed up to the party dressed all in black and wearing cat masks. They did some amazing acrobatic tricks both inside and outside on the street. It was so cool! I’ve been to a lot of Halloween parties, and some of them have even had ninjas (or people dressed as ninjas). But this was the first time that the ninjas in question had the skills to back up the costume. Kudos, Japan. Kudos.

Other Holidays From Around The World pt.1

Hello!

One thing I've noticed in Japan is that there are lots of holidays that are only celebrated here, and not any where else! Things like Golden Week, Obon, and even some of the monthly ones that Japan celebrates are unique to its history and culture, and this is true all over the world! There are holidays and celebrations about various country-specific things everywhere, and lots of them happen to fall into the month of November! So this month, I'm going to try and give you a little information about some of the different holidays that are celebrated in the month of November.

The first one I'd like to give you a little information on is a holiday celebrated only in England on the 5th of November, called Guy Fawkes Day. Guy Fawkes is a historical figure who was part of a plot to overthrow the British government over 400 years ago. His plan, along with some other plotters, tried to blow up the House of Lords. His plan failed however, and so to celebrate this failure, bonfires where lit to celebrate, and every day on the 5th of November, bonfires and fireworks are lit and celebrations are had to remember the event!
