Dollar vs Yen
Every month Sadie and I send money home. We use this money pay for our student loans and we also try to save some of it. Most people never have a need to look t exchange rates but for us its a very exciting thing. Well it probably isn't all that exciting for Sadie but it is for me. When Sadie and I came to Japan we were able to exchange 1 USD for 122 - 128 Yen. Now that we are living in Japan we hope to see the Yen strengthen. Over the course of last week both the dollar and the yen did in fact strengthen. This month we were able to send money back home at a rate of about 106 - 108 yen for each dollar. This might seem like a small difference but when you are sending a couple thousand dollars at a time it is a very nice difference.
Do you check exchange rates or stock values? Do you find it exciting or boring?

My Happy Karaoke Birthday
Last Saturday, a small get-together turned into a huge karaoke party! We did freetime, and started at 10pm! It was so much fun seeing everyone and having such a good time. And I was lucky enough to have my birthday the next day so it was celebrated too!
I was given an adorable birthday cake! I was so happy! I've been in Japan many times but I never had my own cake before. I felt very special.
Some of us at karaoke were finished at 1am, others 3 or the end....6am! It was too loud to sing anything very well but I had fun trying. I really love my coworkers and it was great to see so many of them on a fun night!
But I want to sing again!!!
