I spent the other evening enjoying a live Jazz show in Saijo. A series of bands and singers skillfully performed lots of Jazz standards and even a few interesting covers (specifically, the Lupin the 3rd theme).

But almost more interesting than the music was the venue. This Jazz concert was held in a local temple.




It was really cool! Listening to western music with English lyrics in such a deeply Japanese place was really wonderful. The atmosphere was great and I got to have some really good yakisoba and drink some beer while enjoying the cooling autumn air.
