Lead up to Halloween Event
Our big Halloween Event is coming up. I am super excited for it, despite being frustrated with the preparations I still have to make, this frustration being mainly my fault. I basically suffer from procrastination, something I will have to overcome once I reenter academia this January for my PhD in Comparative Literature. I am still in the process of making my costume, which will involve extensive work craftiwork on a massive and fantastic hat. I can’t say anymore as to the nature of this hat and the rest of the costume that will support it, but know that it will be a pretty funky and outrageous costume. I recently went to a recycle shop and found some pretty nifty clothes, such as the cape pictured below. It is a lot of fun to wear this cape around and give some people something to talk about. And yes, it is super comfortable. I especially like the huge folds around the neck that I can transform to whatever condition that needs to be suited to. I did not manage to grab everything that I needed for my costume this shopping bout around, so I will have to make more time for some more shopping. The questions always stands for deciding: Should I buy new shoes or not? I just recently saw online that the traditional squarish Japanese school bag is now being stylized and sold as part of Western fashion, so maybe I should save my cash for that? But then again, I should keep an eye out for some crazy shoes to bring back with me to the States, yes, yes? Or maybe I should just go out and get myself a jinbei...
