Lately, I have been trying to explore around my current town, Marugame. Just under 2 miles from my house sits the Marugame Castle! Being from North Carolina, I have never seen a "real" castle before in my life! Also in terms of history, America is fairly "new," meaning there is really nothing back home dating from when this castle was built! A friend told me some of the stone work dates back to the 1500s! I think that is amazing and crazy! To think I am looking (and touching!) something that someone could have seen and touched over 500 years ago blows my mind. There was even a moat around the grounds with swans, carp, and lots of turtles swimming around. It was definitely a long hot climb to the top, but the view was worth it. Being able to see all of Marugame, all the way to the water, was a really neat way to see exactly where I'm living now! Have you ever seen a castle? What about this one in Marugame? My coworkers told me there is also a neat castle in Takamatsu I need to check out! I need to start packing a picnic lunch and taking it to my new favorite look-out spot!
