I think I want to spend some time studying traditional Japanese music and instrumentation. I love listening to traditional music from many cultures, but most of my life I've listened to Irish traditional music, since that's where a large part of my heritage is. When I was in university and grad school I studied music history, but it was all western music. I really want to find a class or do some independent research into traditional Japanese music especially, as well as Chinese, Korean, and maybe even Thai music. So I'll be looking for some resources after my visit with my family is done. Until then, I'll be building playlists so I can listen to as much music as I can!
