Beer is an extremely popular drink all over the world. The first known beer was produced in Mesopotamia (or modern-day Iraq) around 5000 BC (about 7000 years ago).

It has since spread all over the world. China consumes the most beer by volume, followed by the USA; while Japan is listed as number eight. The country with the most consumption per capita (person) though is the Czech Republic.

You can get beer most anywhere in Japan – restaurants, bars, clubs, convenience stores, vending machines, festivals, etc. If you like beer, then Japan could present an opportunity to drink and enjoy beer!
