This weekend, Americans in the US celebrated Independence Day on July 4th. This holiday observes the birth of the nation, independent of England. It is essentially, America's birthday. I miss the fireworks, cookouts, time with family and national ceremonies. American isn't perfect nor is its history, but it's home to me. It's imperfections enable me to appreciate things about living in Japan while appreciating the good things about my home country. God Bless America!
