Adventures in Korea: Color Analysis

For Golden Week I went to Korea! One of the things that is very popular to do in Korea is color analysis. I was excited to finally have the chance to try it for myself!

During a color analysis session, the analyst will observe your skin tone and natural features and see how they react with different colors. Then, they will determine a palette that works best for you for clothing, makeup and jewelry. She determined that I was a soft summer, and I was surprised to see the difference it could make! Would you try color analysis?

IOTD: "dead ringer"

DEAD RINGER

A Dead ringer is an idiom in English denoting a person or thing that closely resembles another

EXAMPLES

Aside for the fact that it's a dead ringer for the original, it carries a price tag that will surely make you smile -- $130 to be exact.

For one photographer it set off a mission that created a whole new world of dead ringers.

HISTORY

This idiom originated in 19th-century American horse racing slang, where it referred to a horse fraudulently substituted for another
The term "ringer" itself came from the practice of substituting a horse in a race, often with a horse that looked very similar to the one it was replacing.
The word "ring" in this context meant to exchange or substitute something counterfeit for something real.
The word "dead" was added to the phrase for emphasis, signifying an exact or precise resemblance.
The idiom "dead ringer" then spread beyond horse racing to describe any situation where one person or thing closely resembled another

Haikyuu Sushi Collaboration!

A little while back, I went to Sushiro while they had this adorable haikyuu collaboration going on! Even though I don’t like sweets, I ordered it just for the merchandise!

Cherry Blossoms in Bujo Park

The cherry blossoms have finally bloomed and I went to my favorite place: Bujo Park. It was really cold, but still fun!

Buddhism History

Buddhism History

Buddhism began in India about 2,500 years ago. It spread throughout Asia, eventually influencing most of the continent. The religion's teachings focus on understanding suffering, and the way to achieve peace and harmony.

The religion spread eastward into China, Japan, Vietnam, etc. via the trade routes used between various countries in both Europe and Asia. It reached Japan around the 6th century, and is today the prevalent religion in the country (along with Shinto), and it has adapted to the local culture and beliefs.

Mouse Trap

Another popular American board game for children is called Mouse Trap. In the game, you build pieces one-by-one to make a very complicated mousetrap. The mousetrap ends up being a kind of "Rube Goldberg machine." (If you don't know what that is, Google defines it as "a complex machine that performs a simple task in an indirect and complicated way, named after cartoonist and inventor Rube Goldberg.") Then you try to catch your friends' mice in the trap, while keeping your own mouse safe.

It's a very silly and fun game to play, and maybe it helps children learn some engineering or physics?
Have you played this game before?

Sushi Roll Mishaps

One of the first places that I went to during golden week, was sushi roll. I had a bit of a disaster though. I sat at the wrong number of the counter (I was 13, not 12). I tried to correct it and it looked like I had two tables. The people working there were very nice and laughed at my mistake. I was very embarrassed though. After they sorted it out, I tried to make some tea and spilled a bunch of water!
I also couldn't find the chopsticks, and it turns out that they were hiding in a drawer right under the counter!
Being embarrassed almost ruined my meal.

A nail trip to Tokyo!

During the second day of Golden week, I visited my friend who does my nails at an English speaking nail salon located in Minato-ku, Tokyo. They do a great job recreating designs that you see on the internet. In my case, my nail artist recreated 3 nail designs on my nails and they came out wonderful. I absolutely love them!
