A Canadian Delicacy

So as I have mentioned in my first blog back in February, I am Canadian. As long as I have been away from my birth city, Toronto is still home to me in many ways. This includes the culture, the lifestyle and of course, the food.

This brings me to one of my favorite dishes of all time: Poutine! This is a dish that was created in the late 1950s in a Canadian province called Quebec. A province is like a Japanese prefecture or an American state. Quebec happens to be our lone province that mostly speaks French. The dish is usually made up of french fries, cheese curds, and brown gravy. The best poutine is when the gravy is hot enough to melt the curds, but the french fries are still a little crispy after taking the heat. Feel free to eat it with a fork or your hands, but be careful that it isn't too hot!

Poutine! Yum!

I don't know if there's any place in Kawaga that sells poutine, but there are many substitutions that can be made. Some places make an Italian variety where they substitute the gravy for pasta sauce and use mozzarella cheese in place of the cheese curds. If there is any place that something like this here, please let me know! I would love to try it!
